1. How do I apply? [APPLICATION PROCEDURES]

a. Submit/write to us for the application form
b. Send a RM 100 bank draft/cheque
c. To expedite the process before your mail takes a couple of days to     reach us FAX TO US A PHOTOCOPY OF THE     BANK DRAFT AND CHEQUE you send.

2. What are the entry requirements?
a. Entry requirements for MD program: Qualification equivalent to STPM,     A-Levels, local Matriculation with minimum of CGPA 3.00
b. Entry requirements for Certificate in Pre Medical Studies: SPM,     minimum C6 in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics, and     minimum 4B in any THREE of science subjects.
c. Entry requirements for Diploma in Assistant Pharmacy: SPM,     minimum C6 in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics, and     minimum 4B in any TWO of science subjects.

3. What is the medium of instruction?
a. MD-USU
    i.Bahasa Indonesia
    ii.Bahasa Malaysia
    iii.Bahasa English
b. Certificate in Pre Medical Studies English
c. Diploma in Assistant Pharmacy Bahasa Malaysia

4. Is there any installment plan for payment of fees?
- Yes

5. What are the facilities available in USU and ACMS?
a. USU:
    i.Fully air-conditioned lecture rooms, tutorial rooms
    ii.State-of-the-art library support, practical and hands-on training of        students; science laboratories
b. ACMS

    i.administrative office in Menara UMNO (lecture rooms are also       available here)
    ii.Kepala Batas facilities will be developed completely by June 2006.

6. Are there any scholarships offered by USU or ACMS?

7. What are the job prospects after graduation? Or where can I work?
- Indonesia & Malaysia
- Malaysian students ( housemenship = 1 year & 3 year Compulsory Service )

- One

- Currently, no.

- Both Malaysia & Indonesia

11. Describe the nature and the course structure of the degree?
- TWINNING PROGRAM
- 2 phases: pre-clinical & clinical

12. What is the duration of the course?
a. 6 years: 3 years pre-clinical (USU), 3 years clinical (Penang)
b. Pre-clinical years: 2 semesters (each semester 14 weeks) per year
c. Clinical years = rational basis

13. Is USU / ACMS linked up with other overseas universities?
- USU has linkages with other ASEAN universities

14. How are the classes conducted?
- Lectures and practical sessions are similar to other medical   programs.

15. When are the classes usually conducted?
- Based on the time table which runs from Monday to Saturday

16. Are textbooks or manuals provided?
a. Textbooks: have to be bought
b. Manuals: will be provided



  17. Who will be teaching the students in Medan and when they are back in Penang during the clinical years?
a. Medan / USU: staffs of USU
b. Penang:
    i.Seconded staff from USU to Penang
    ii.Locally recruited staffs of ACMS
    iii.Specialist / consultants from Ministry of Health / Private         Sector who will serve as adjunct staff under short and long         term contracts.


18. Is the examination internally assessed or externally assessed or by USU or ACMS?

a. Internally assessed within regulation and procedures set by     USU

19. What is the passing rate?
- The dropout rate is below 10% (and they can still continue if   they wish at any time)

20. Will the students learn IT in the course?
- there will be facilities made available for E-learning

21. What are the special features of this degree offered?
- Semester exams at end of every semester
- Laboratories
- Specialized lectures
- Qualified & experienced lecturers
- ACMS will monitor the progress of the student and prepare   appropriate reports

- The National Accreditation Board (BAN) of Indonesia has    identified USU as the BEST university outside Jawa    Island

Accommodation

1. Will ACMS provide accommodation for the students?
a. Medan: Yes, a hostel in Medan district.
b. Penang (under construction): Campus building will include     hostel accommodation. Houses will be provided for our     students.

2. What are the facilities provided?
a. Basic furnitures, air-condition, internet facilities.

3. How do I apply for rooms?
a. Indicate in the application form whether accommodation is     required

4. Is there a curfew in the hostel?
a. The students have to abide to the normal rules and     regulations of the hostel.

5. Is there anyone guarding the hostels?
a. There will be security guards.

6. How many rooms and toilets are there in the apartment / house / hostel?
a. There will be adequate number

7. Is the out-campus accommodation easily accessible to the university? Is it convenient for students to travel to college?
a. Yes, and it is conveniently located near the supermarkets,     hawker centers and other fast-food outlets
